Youth Centre update

Updated: Dec 13, 2023

Ashtead Youth Club is a vital service for the young people of our community, and we are proud to share some of the achievements and activities that have taken place this year.

Our youth club offers a variety of programmes for different age groups, from sports and games to arts and crafts, from life skills and leadership to volunteering and social action. One of our most popular sessions is the Rally Karting Project, which teaches members about teamwork, mechanics, and driving.

We are also excited to announce that we will be celebrating our first batch of Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award recipients in December, as well as showcasing the talents and experiences of our young people who participated in the Rotary Youth Leaders programme.

The Stockroom Society, led by Rachel Groom from Ashtead Park, transformed the pop-up gallery in the Swan Centre into a vibrant space for art and culture. I had the pleasure of attending one of their events and I was amazed by the variety and quality of the artworks on display. There were 20 artists involved, showcasing different styles and mediums. The Society also offered workshops for teens and adults, ranging from DJ'ing and rapping to street art. Some of them were even free! It was a wonderful evening and I commend Rachel for her vision and initiative.
